Lower Similkameen Indian Band issue – to be debated today at RDOS
Proposal to the Similkameen River Watershed Plan (SRWP)
Administrative Recommendation:
THAT the Board enter into Agreement with the Lower Similkameen Indian Band (LSIB) to provide consultative services and share unique cultural and ecological data for the Similkameen River Watershed Plan, as outlined in the LSIB Work Plan dated June 6, 2013, not to exceed $43,755.00.
History:
A delegation of the Lower Similkameen Indian Band (LSIB) attended the June 6, 2013 Board Meeting with a proposal for involvement in the SRWP.
Alternatives: Reject the proposal
Analysis: Following further discussion on the LSIB proposal at the July 4, 2013 board meeting, the Similkameen Valley Planning Society (SVPS) met with the LSIB July 19, 2013 and determined that the participation of the LSIB is vital to the development of a watershed plan for the Similkameen Valley.
