Wildfire communications staff now say that the “area of origin” has been determined.
A “cig butt” found and isolated at a fire-start-point north of the Stewart Ranch on way to White Lake. Police will investigate further.

Cause: Human
The specific cause of this wildfire remains under investigation, but it is believed to be a human caused wildfire.
Resources • 36 firefighters • 5 helicopters • 2 heavy equipment Crews will remain onsite throughout the night. Additional ground personnel are being brought in to support suppression efforts in the morning.

There is no water system in the area for a supply of fire attack water – personnel would be using tanks from water trucks.
Residents of the area say thank you to fire crews including Kaleden and Willowbrook Fire Departments – who were first responders.
More than 70 hectares consumed on both sides of White Lake Road.
12 homes given evacuation notice. No one is known to have left. A number of animals were removed from the Yellow Brick Road area.
Wildfire communications staff say some people have left on their own but no ORDER is in effect.
Police had closed the road to regular traffic at Willowbrook and the White Lake turnoff.
