On July 16, 2013, at approximately 6:00 pm, Police, Anarchist Mountain Fire Department, and BC Ambulance responded to a motorcycle accident on Anarchist Mountain near McGuire Rd. A 47 year old local man was travelling on a 2010 Kawasaki motorcycle east bound and went off the roadway into a rock cliff. The man received severe but non-life threatening injuries and was transported by BC Ambulance helicopter to the hospital in Kelowna.
July 20th, 2013 Police received a report that overnight a rock had been thrown through the drive through window at the Osoyoos Dairy Queen and a cement picnic table had also been damaged. If anyone has information on this mischief please call the Osoyoos RCMP at (250) 495-7236 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
So far this summer a number of boat trailers have been found parked on public roads in Osoyoos without valid insurance. Some of these trailers have not been insured for many years and had travelled from Vancouver to Osoyoos uninsured. These trailers were towed off the road and the owners are responsible to show proof of insurance and pay for the tow / storage fees. Under the BC Motor Vehicle Act all vehicles and trailers on a highway must have valid Insurance if they are on a roadway. Owners of vehicles or trailers without valid insurance are subject to a ticket with a $598.00 fine.
With the increase in summer visitors the Osoyoos RCMP Officers were kept very busy over the last week as they responded to 74 calls for service. Unfortunately 4 visitors and 1 local resident overindulged over the last weekend and spent the night in jail as they were not able to care for themselves due to their level of intoxication.
