Johanne Jeffries (right in picture) of 232 Royal Canadian Air Cadet  Squadron in Oliver formally received the Most Improved Cadet Award for  her Flight, i.e. class, on parade from LCol Carrie Johnston,  Commanding Officer, today in Victoria.

The Most Improved Cadet is selected from each Flight, and takes into  account their overall improvement in the areas of performance,  participation, attitude, conduct, and teamwork skills.

Each Flight was comprised of approximately 25 cadets. Each cadet is  eligible to receive one of three individual awards, Top Shot (all  Flights) as well as Top Cadet and Most Improved Cadet (per Flight)

Over 140 air cadets from throughout B.C. formally graduated during a  ceremonial parade at Albert Head Air Cadet Summer Training Centre on  Friday, July 19, 2013, in Victoria, B.C. Mr. Geoff Dickson, President  and CEO of the Victoria Airport Authority, was the Reviewing Officer.  The two-week General Training Course is the first introduction many  cadets have to life at a Cadet Summer Training Centre, some even the  first time away from home.

Over the past two weeks, these cadets – the majority between 12 and 13  years of age – completed a busy program, including military drill,  sports, citizenship activities, and had an opportunity to fly.  The  cadets have also participated in adventure training classes, including  survival and a trip to the range to learn how to safely handle an air  rifle. The cadets also visited Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse  National Historic Site and B.C. Legislature.

There are approximately 3500 Air Cadets in B.C.
