Marilyn Joyce Guraliuk
February 3, 1937 – July 17, 2013
On Wednesday morning, July 17th, Marilyn Guraliuk of Oliver passed away peacefully at the South Okanagan General Hospital at the age of 76 years. We thank the hospital staff for their care and comfort in her last days.
She will be adoringly remembered by her loving family including husband Gary Guraliuk of Oliver; daughter Kathleen Bell & her husband Greg, daughter Debbie McKearney & her husband John; son Gary Ekdahl; grandchildren Marlise Kelsey & her husband Geoff, Niki Cecil & her husband Michael, Liam McKearney & his wife Maiah & Declan McKearney; great-grandchildren Ethan, Aidan & Emilie Kelsey; Jakob, Joshua, Caleb & Luke Cecil & Jadon, Jacob & Alivia McKearney.
Marilyn loved to socialize and especially enjoyed sharing her home and a meal with people who were alone for the holidays. She enjoyed spending time with her 10 great grandchildren at family functions on the coast. Her and Gary took many holidays together throughout BC, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and on many cruises. She loved rodeos and camping in the Boler.
She was easy-going and strived to make people laugh, especially when she was the centre of the entertainment. During her 17 years in Oliver, Marilyn made many friends who will miss her dearly.
Marilyn volunteered her time with the Elementary School reading program, the Oliver thrift shop & the Royal Purple and was involved with the Red Hat Ladies (Crown Jewels) where she was known as “Sister Peanut”.
Everyone who knew and loved Marilyn is welcome to attend her burial service at the Oliver Cemetery at 1:00 pm Monday July 22, 2013 and a celebration of her life at 2:00 pm at the Elks Hall. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elks & Royal Purple Fund for Children.
