Updated information:
In recent days, the City of Penticton has been responding to numerous enquiries regarding misinformation that has been circulating through various means including ‘Alert Notices’ distributed on vehicles in downtown parking lots and social networking.
These notices appear to have originated from the City of Penticton ‘Environmental Department’ signed by Susan Smith. The City of Penticton does not have a ‘Environment Department’, nor does a ‘Susan Smith’ work for the city.
The City of Penticton appreciates any information the public can provide on the person or persons who have initiated this information.
The RCMP has been informed of this matter and it is under investigation.

This is a photographic record of a letter never issued by City of Penticton but being circulated in the South Okanagan by Facebook and e-mails. Basically it asks for people to monitor chem trails in the sky.
Chuck Loewan (Manager of Recreation Services) of the City of Penticton was contacted by Oliver Daily News this morning and he replied: ” This letter did not come from the City or its staff. An investigation is being handled by the RCMP.”
