UBC Alumni have concluded their Okanagan Days event including Winery Visits, Golf and a tour of the Radio Observatory at White Lake. At White Lake, the Alumni had a tour of the facility including the new CHIME radio telescope, lectures on astronomy and the chance to view the evening sky through the telescopes of members of the local Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) members including yours truly. With solar filters on the scopes, we looked at the setting sun and after sunset the slim crescent moon and other celestial wonders.
