I have decided to run in this upcoming by election Being involved in local politics is important to me as a member of this community. I believe in order for communities to survive we need to be sustainable. I have had a chance to study communities and sustainability with the Governor General’s leadership conference 2012. This is a great opportunity to share with my community what I have learned.
I have grown up here in Oliver and raised my family here my husband Mark Mattes and I have a home in town. My parents Dal and Gaye Carter also live here as well as sisters, nieces and nephews. We care about our community and what will happen here in the future.
I have over 30 years experience as a heath care worker here in Oliver. Spending time volunteering in our community is an important aspect of small town life. I have been involved in many things in my community. From Minor hockey to the Youth Ambassador Program and working with the local Ducks Unlimited chapter are just some of the programs I have volunteered for.
I feel lucky having the opportunity to work and play in the place where my parents, myself and my children have grown up.
I have experience representing people. I was part of a team that represented 43000 health care workers where we balanced budgets and put in place policies. I have what it takes to be part of this council.
Info supplied. More candidate profiles will be published if ODN is informed of someone’s interest in running for this position.
