My name is Helene Urcullu and I have been a registered massage therapist for 15 years. I have been practicing in Oliver for the last three years and have been enjoying my time in this community immensely.

Prior to Oliver I had been in Quesnel for five years. The 3 years before that I did seasonal work, in the winter I would work at a heli-ski resort and during the summer I would usually do maternity leaves for other RMT’s. I also took one year off and taught English to children in Taipai, Taiwan, but that is a whole other story. I also owned a small practice in Kamloops for five years.

I became a massage therapist after a car accident. During recovery I went to see a physio and a massage therapist, the effects these people had on my recovery was profound. My massage therapist spoke highly of her profession and how much she enjoyed it. Six months after my accident a massage therapy college opened in Vernon and two years later I was an RMT yippee!!

On a personal level I was born in Montreal to parents who were immigrants from France. We lived in Montreal for approximately for four years. Then we drove across Canada and moved to Lumby, we spoke no English. My mom told me that when I played with other kids and spoke French to them I got very irritated and thought they were all silly because they did not understand me. I guess I did not understand that there were other languages besides French, who knew.

I graduated from high school in Lumby, travelled and lived abroad for a while and worked many odd jobs. Eventually I married, and I have a beautiful son. He currently lives in Prince George were he works for the city.

I enjoy many things outside, the current passion is stand up paddle boarding. Occasionally I run, bike, hike, and long walks. I currently have a dog in my life who gets me out every morning and night, life with dog is a great motivator. I also like to dabble in art pottery, stained glass, stained glass mosaics and now weaving thanks to the spinners and weavers in town.

Just want to say thank you to all, this community has been very welcoming to me and thanks to all the support I have a thriving practice. I am proud to call Oliver home.
