Larry Schwartzenberger grew up in Calgary and attended the University of Calgary as a Computer Science Major. Married to his wife Claire for 39 years, they moved to Oliver 22 years ago. They have 3 grown children who all graduated from SOSS and have 4 grandchildren with another on the way. Larry works for Growers Supply/South Valley in Oliver as the Packaging Manager. Larry & Claire also own and operate an internet business.
Larry is currently the Chairperson of the Airport Advisory Committee and is on the executive of the Knights of Columbus. Previously, Larry was a member of the Oliver & District Community Economic Development Society – ODCEDS.
Larry believes that our community needs to build our tax base through managed growth so that the higher costs of delivering services to Oliver’s residents are offset by an expanded tax base. We have a once in decades opportunity to market our community to 250 new families who will move to the South Okanagan to work at the new Correctional Facility. We need a coordinated effort to present Oliver as the best place for these new workers to live and raise their families.
