Catastrophes
We’ve heard a lot in the news about the destruction caused by floods, tornadoes, and fires. The damage and dismay is overwhelming. We sympathize with the Park Place residents in the catastrophe that has hit them. We are told that the very center of the tornado can be a place of quiet stillness. It is so hard to visualize winds of 150 km an hour whirling around such a calm refuge.
The storms of life will come too. They can be so destructive. Relationships crumble, finances disappear, health fails or friends move away. Is it possible to find any peace when such calamities come our way? While we don’t have a simplistic solution we can have peace in the middle of it all. Jesus promised, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
