The Oliver Arena packed Thursday, as it is every year, for the annual commencement ceremony.
This was a group that spent the entire grade 12 year in “portable city” with School District Superintendent Bev Young saying this was a class that showed its strength in the rain and the wind between trailer classrooms.
“You have shown it – a lot of resiliency”.
Mayor Ron Hovanes says Oliver is very proud of you and the community looks forward to watching your progress.
Board of Trustees Chair Marieze Tarr said “be yourself – you will have a tinge of fear but don’t let that hold you back”.
Chief Clarence Louie telling students – “always be a learner” and “listen to the boss” if you want to succeed.
Superintendent Young brought a gift for every grad – “a piece of a portable for you to remember your time at SOSS – the best high school in Oliver”.
