One week ago today, Brady Henderson and Thierry Martine went round after round from 4:22 am to 9:32 pm at Fairview Mountain Golf Course in their club’s ALS Golfathon.
The objective of this and other such events at courses across Western Canada, is to raise funds for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) research and treatment. It involves playing as many holes of golf in a single day with people making pledges in support of their efforts.
This year Brady and Thierry, both staff members of Fairview’s Pro Shop, along with their many assistants and supporters, each managed to play 252 holes (14 eighteen hole rounds) over 17 hours and 10 minutes, beginning in darkness and finishing in near darkness. To date their efforts have raised $11,500 for ALS from both pledges and a patio party (which raised $5700 alone) which greeted the players as their day ended.
