Acting Chair Mark Pendergraft at signing ceremony Friday looks confident and spoke well on behalf of the Regional District Okanagan Similkameen.
Directors will elect a new chair at the next meeting in early July and Pendergraft is expected to get the nod to lead the RDOS through the remainder of the municipal/regional term ending in October of 2014.
Pendergraft is rural director for Electoral Area A Osoyoos. His chairmanship would return the board to an earlier time when the position was usually filled by a rural director.
Pendergraft as acting chairman replaced Dan Ashton who has resigned all his municipal/regional positions – being signed in as the new Penticton MLA.
Yes there could be competition but my conversations with directors says no.
For Vice-Chair – Keremeos Mayor Manfred Bauer and Oliver Mayor Ron Hovanes have expressed an interest.
