A small group of volunteers met Thursday in the Oliver Council Chambers to plan a response to news that 60 residents need to leave their homes in Park Place and seek other accommodation for up to two years.
Volunteers agreed to raise monies to help, organize fund raisers, pack belongings, assist with the removal of items inside apartments, move furniture, find accommodation and storage for metal containers and assist with finding resources for people who need assistance in copying with such a traumatic happening.
Each of these projects is led by a team leader and will be coordinated through the office of the evacuation coordinator Linda Gergely.
Information on how you can help financially will be outlined shortly.
If you want to help in any way – email Linda at parkplaceoffice@eastlink.ca
Thanks to Beth Garrish for facilitating at the meeting and for all that attended.
