A 60 year old Olalla man is in intensive care at Vancouver General Hospital, after a fire burned seven vehicles including a motor-home on a rural Keremeos area property Monday.
“I was sleeping and I heard a loud boom and came out. There was fire coming from one of the vans, so I grabbed a hose, and the next thing I knew the propane blew and the fire went from one vehicle to the next,” he said. “My younger brother was in the motor home and everything in the vehicles: books, files, tapes, clothes is lost.” – says Robbie Kilborn
Area G RDOS Director Angelique Wood writes: Randie Walker who is now in the burn unit in Vancouver, has lost every single thing he owned. If people are interested in contributing to a relief fund for him, it is being set up at Valley First in Keremeos.
When firefighters arrived on scene(10th and Main – just off the Highway, most of the vehicles were on fire and there were several more explosions, possibly caused by propane.
Neighbours said the flames intensified when the fire spread to two trees.
As he surveyed the burned vans, cars and trucks and blackened debris piled up beside them Kilborn said all the family can do now is wait for updates on his half-brother’s condition.
