On May 28th 2013 at approximately 14:57 Hours Oliver RCMP responded to a two vehicle MVI at the intersection of Fairview Road and Main Street, Oliver B.C. The collision was as a result of a fail to yield at the intersection and involved a Grey 2007 Chevrolet Silverado and a Grey 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. Both vehicles were driven by Oliver residents and the offending driver was issued a Violation Ticket for failing to yield. Both vehicle’s sustained minor damage and neither driver was injured.
On May 31, 2013 at approximately 15:15 Hours Oliver RCMP attended a two vehicle collision on Similkameen Avenue and Airport Street. A grey GMC Canyon being driven by an Oliver resident had stopped at the south bound stop sign on Airport Street failing to yield for a black Honda CRV traveling east bound on Similkameen Avenue. Neither driver sustained injuries although the unlicenced driver of the GMC Canyon was issued Violation Tickets for Fail To Yield.
On June 01, 2013 at approximately 13:22 Hours members attended to a single vehicle collision in which a vehicle (1998 Oldsmobile Cutlas) being driven by a 58 year old Oliver resident had struck a tree. Police arrival confirmed that the female driver was trapped inside and Willowbrook VFD were on scene working to extricate the driver from the vehicle. Ultimately, a cooperative effort between both the Oliver FD and the Willowbrook VFD and use of the jaws of life resulted in the removal of the driver who was transported by EHS to Penticton Regional Hospital for non life threatening but serious injuries. Initial investigation represents that the accident was likely caused by a medical issue.
On June 03, 2013 at approximately 04:08 Hours the Oliver RCMP responded to a single vehicle MVI in the 1000 Block of Fairview Road. Attendance confirmed that a Blue 2007 Jeep Gand Cherokee had sheared the utility pole at that location, struck a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the road and ultimately came to rest upside down on a lawn. The vehicle was unoccupied on police arrival and, police are investigating to confirm which of the two males believed to be associated to the vehicle was the driver. Drug paraphernalia and alcohol were found in the vehicle and are believed to be precipitating factors in the crash.
On June 02, 2013 the Oliver RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian hit & run at the corner of Station Street and Fairview Road. Initial investigation represents that a flagger, working on behalf of the Oliver Half Ironman event, was dealing with the driver of a blue Ford pickup, who became irate at having to wait for the athletes. When ultimately allowed to proceed, the truck spun its tires and accelerated forward at an unsafe speed. The initial flagger radioed ahead to her partner to have the vehicle pulled over but when the second flag person attempted to stop the vehicle he was struck on his left ankle and sustained minor bruising. The suspect vehicle was described as a seventies model Ford pickup, light blue with a large hood scoop on the hood with lowered suspension. Police will continue to identify the suspect vehicle.
