Area C Director Allan Patton recently sat down with government officials to go over some concerns. Patton met with David Friesen, Finance Manager, Capital Project of Corrections Branch.
Patton said he told the ministry that he wanted the back access road to be the least intrusive to the neighbourhood. He urged the government to use the Senkulmen Industrial Park as the main entrance during construction – the back access being used for emergencies.
The rural director also took the opportunity to plead for local use of contractors and local food suppliers at the BC Correctional Facility. He also thought that there could be programme in the South Okanagan involving local governments for prisoner rehab and use of labour.
