On May 16th my brother and sister-in-law were the 2 horseback riders injured on a rural trail in Osoyoos when a dirt bike revved his engines and spooked their horses. My brother broke his back in 4 places and had to be med-flight back to Florida 3 days later. This rider did not stop and offer assistance – he fled. Due to his antics, they both could have been killed. My brother is facing months and months of rehab not to mention the financial burden this has caused the family. They are lucky to be alive. I know the RCMP will find that rider; after all, they always get their man.
The people of Oliver and Osoyoos went out of their way to accommodate and assist my family in many ways. From the stable owners who visited my brother and sister-in-law at the hospital and helped with their rental car return, to the resort manager who packed up their luggage and delivered it to them in record time, to the nurses and staff at the hospital who helped them with their needs and to the doctor who provided compassionate care and understanding – thank you. The list goes on and on but I want you to know we are grateful to each and everyone. They were strangers but you welcomed them. You live in a lovely spot in Canada but more importantly, you are lovely people.
Sincerely,
Tina Scott
