On Friday, May 17th, 2013, Osoyoos RCMP executed a Search Warrant at a rural residence in the Hewitt Road area near Osoyoos. No persons were located at the residence however, a large marihuana grow operation was found and 766 plants were seized. The Police investigation continues and the unsafe electrical modifications to be addressed.
On Thursday May 16th, 2013, the Osoyoos RCMP and Search and Rescue were called to assist with an injured male. Two clients had been on a horseback trail ride in a rural area when a dirt bike rider passed them revving the bikes engine causing the horses to throw their riders. The 59 year old male was thought to have sustained a back injury needing evacuation by Oliver / Osoyoos Search and Rescue to the hospital. The status of the injured male is not known at this time and Police are attempting to identify the driver of the motorcycle.
On May 19th, 2013 (Saturday night) at approximately 1:40 am, Osoyoos RCMP attended at a large bush party on Highway 3 West of Old Richter Pass Rd. Police shut the party down due to underage drinking, intoxicated youth, and youth causing a disturbance. A 14 year old girl from Oliver was found passed out and was taken by Ambulance to South Okanagan General Hospital. Three intoxicated males under the age of 19 were arrested for Causing a Disturbance when they were fighting, disregarding Police Direction, and one fled from a Police Officer. One youth spent the night in jail until sober and is now facing criminal charges for Uttering Threats towards a Police Officer, a second male youth was turned over to his Grandmother, and the third male youth was taken to the hospital after he injured his hand by punching a barn and the back screen of the Police car.
