1. What will decide this election: protection of the environment, leadership, need for change, fiscal management?
Mischa Popoff – The environment is doing just fine here in the Boundary-Similkameen. People are in dire straits and don’t want to be told they have to pay more for their power in an ill-conceived effort dreamed up by bureaucrats to “conserve” energy. We’re already conserving energy! People have been doing so for over a decade now. People in this riding are looking for someone who can provide leadership to get us out of this mess, to reduce the tax burden Victoria is imposing on us (carbon tax, rate hikes, sales tax and provincial income taxes), and get the province’s fiscal house in order.
2. Policy of your party you promote the most when speaking in public?
Mischa Popoff – Although I am now an independent, I am sticking steadfastly to my small “c” conservative roots to reduce taxes and get the province out of debt by boosting the economy, just like Tommy Douglas did back in Saskatchewan.
3. The quality of your leader that you talk about the most
Mischa Popoff – N/A
4. A brief statement on what you think the electorate is looking for in 2013?
Mischa Popoff – People don’t appreciate electing politicians who get to Victoria and find out the province is being run by bureaucrats who pull down six-digit salaries. People want someone who will listen to them, and deliver a message that “This is a democracy!” to all those at the top in the province’s capital.
5. A brief statement on what you will advocate for, if elected?
Mischa Popoff – Reduce taxes, and quit treating us like children. Politicians and bureaucrats work for the people, not the other way ‘round.
6. What are the issues that people bring to you when door knocking in the riding?
Mischa Popoff – The rate hikes are fake hikes! Give us our power back! And stop taxing us for using our power!!
