
Princeton – Case of 49 year old John Ike Koopmans of Princeton adjourned to May 29th in Penticton Courts. He has been charged with two counts of murder and 1 count of attempt murder in connection with a shooting incident Saturday March 30th on Old Hedley Rd.
Oliver – Brian Douglas Louie, 34, of Oliver remanded till next Monday in Penticton Courts – attempting to set a date for sentencing. Confusion between the court and new lawyer on when a Gladue report will be completed. Sentencing of an aboriginal cannot go ahead without such a report. The report was order by a judge when Louie was found guilty December 13th of last year. The serious sexual assault committed on the Osoyoos Indian Reserve in May of 2012.
A Gladue report is a type of pre-sentencing and bail hearing report that a Canadian court can request when considering sentencing an offender of Aboriginal background under Section 718.2(e) of the Criminal Code.
