The Wine Country Retired Teachers’ Association is co-sponsoring, with the Osoyoos Seniors’ Centre and other groups, a forum to talk about and learn about Seniors’ issues and concerns. Our Provincial Election candidates for our constituency will be present to listen, learn and to be advised about what matters to Seniors and what Seniors’ care about. One of these candidates will be representing our constituency in Victoria after the next election on May 14th.
It is simply a meeting for seniors to talk about issues and voice their concerns and debate possible solutions to problems that need government attention.
The Retired Teachers organization is non-political …. it is not in the business of supporting any one party versus another. But we do have issues.
Respect for Seniors; Healthcare for seniors; Continuing Care, Long term care and Palliative care; Recreation; DriveABLE driving rights; Retirement security with sufficient pensions for food, clothing and shelter; Transportation services for seniors to get from Oliver and Osoyoos to Penticton Hospital; Meals on Wheels; How to get help when Computer Literacy is the only way to get information or fill in forms; Housing needs and solutions; home support; MSP Premiums and Pharmacare costs;
The Forums will take place in Oliver and Osoyoos. They will be approximately 90 mins. in length. In Osoyoos the Forum will be at the Osoyoos Seniors’ Centre Tuesday starting at 1 o’clock on April 30th. In Oliver the Forum will be at the Elks’ Hall Wednesday starting at 1 o’clock May 1st.
Please mark your calendars ….. and try to be at one or both of these events.
