These are some of the pictures of the Chain Lake fire that was fought by the Hayes Creek firefighters a few nights ago. The lone occupant was able to escape the flames but his pet dog did not. The house, outbuildings and 8 vehicles destroyed plus two Harley Davidsons.
3 vehicles and very close neighbor’s homes and structures were saved due to efforts of local firefighters.
They used 6000 gallons from there engine and tanker and untold thousands of gallons pumped from Chain Lake. The occupant was a “collecter” and the small property was filled and piled with vehicles, old lumber, propane and fuel tanks and brick/brack which made firefighting and access extremely difficult for firefighting.
Area H RDOS Director Brad Hope told board directors Thursday that more effort must be made to clean up some rural properties where a lot of flammable material is being accumulated. He was also concerned about any runoff from the water used into nearby lakes.
