For more than 20 years, the Oliver-Osoyoos Women’s Friendship Group
has provided social support to South Okanagan women who are single,
separated, divorced or have a spouse in a care facility. More than 20 women
came to the very first OOWFG luncheon back in 1993, and countless more have
been involved over the years. However, with changing community needs and
changing personal situations, OOWFG organizers recently made the difficult
decision to terminate the group. Being community minded women, many of whom
have experienced the loss of a loved one, the OOWFG decided to donate their
remaining funds ($690.00) to the Desert Valley Hospice Society.

“We are incredibly appreciative of the Women’s Friendship Group’s donation”,
says Janet Shaw, DVHS President. “It is this kind of generosity and
community spirit that continues to inspire us.”
