Water Quality Report
Here is an update, to let you know what has happened and what we are doing so far, if you want to pass along the info:
1. Initially our crews were unable to determine the source of the dirty water complaints but around 1200 we found out that water mainline was being worked on and the line split between two water services creating a water hammer (a pressure surge or wave) in the water system.
2. Shortly after 1300 Public Works started receiving calls about dirty water.
3. Airport booster (feeding from in Town to rural South of Town) was shut down and the water system south of Town was isolated, now being serviced by Miller well.
4. Tucelnuit well (the well running at the time of the incident)and the reservoir were checked and were clear.
5. Chlorine Residual at Tucelnuit well was checked – 0.47 which is good.
6. Flushing is currently being done, improvement is being seen and will be monitored over the weekend.
7. Presence absence (in house test for Total Coliforms) is being conducted today and throughout the weekend.
8. Standard water sampling for an analytical lab will be completed on Monday and throughout the week for more accurate testing.
This Boil Water Notice may be on for at least a week because we generally have to have three consecutive (each day) tests (Total Coliforms & E-Coli) come back clean and we don’t receive the results for at least 24 to 48 hours.
