Dr. Anna Warwick-Sears is the executive director of the Okanagan Basin Water Board report to the RDOS.
Warwick-Sears told Regional District directors that building a water control plan is very difficult in a desert with input of water in the Okanagan watershed different every years – with some year a lot of snow/rain and other years near drought conditions.
Interesting facts on water usage:
55% of water use is for farming
24% is outdoor home use
7% of water is used indoors which is the same percentage as
parks and golf courses.
She urged civic leaders to conserve where possible with wise water use practices.
