The Penticton RCMP continues to investigate break in at local Boys and Girls Club which occurred over the weekend. Officers responded immediately to the report of a break in as possible suspects fled in a vehicle on police arrival.
On Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 8:00 A.M., Penticton RCMP responded to a commercial alarm at theĀ Okanagan Boys and Girls Club on Manitoba St in Penticton.
Upon arrival, the RCMP member observed a light blue 2002 Ford Windstar van, B.C. Licence# 600 BRW, with the Boys and Girls Club logo on the side drive away at a high rate of speed. The RCMP member attempted to catch up to the vehicle which drove through a parking lot and then through 3 stop signs. The RCMP member terminated his attempt to and stopping the vehicle due to public safety concerns.
On scene members learnt that entry was gained into the building through a window. Once inside 3 cell phones, some food and 4 sets of keys to the vans parked outside were taken. Neighbors advised that they saw a possible suspect, described as possibly female, short stature, wearing a black toque, red scarf around their face, white sweater and a black/red or orange backpack.
It has established that a gas card was also stolen in the break-in and had been used later that day at the Petro Can in Osoyoos and then again on Sunday March 31, 2013 in Rock Creek. Anyone with any information concerning this incident are asked to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
