I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to the readers of Oliver Daily News. I am the BC Liberal Party candidate for the provincial election in May for the Boundary Similkameen riding.
I am currently a Town Councillor in Oliver and was the Mayor of Oliver from 1997 to 2005. I am the Chair of the Board of Community Futures Okanagan Similkameen and also Chair the Provincial CF Board representing 34 Community Futures offices around the Province. I am the past Vice-Chair of the BC Small Business Roundtable [2005-2011] and was on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement BC from 2006 to 2011.
My husband Larry and I [married 42 years] moved to Oliver in 1989 and bought the Eastside Grocery, then partnered in the Stedmans/V&S and finally owned Ruffled Edges until 2003. We have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren [#4 due in April]. I have been a volunteer with the Sunnybank Ladies Auxiliary for 24 years, a member of WOW [former Soroptimist Club of Oliver] for 20 years and I have run a free muffin program at SOSS for the past 12 years.
Todays BC Liberals have a plan for BC that reflects my values of support for community and family, and a strong economy that is necessary to continue support for our health, education, and social programs. Let’s not leave debt for our future generations.
I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the next few weeks and hearing what concerns you most in your community.
