Ellen Alvina Mann Tache Coté – Mom, Gram, Great-Gram
Ellen passed away in hospital March 11th after a short illness. She is predeceased by her husbands Audie Tache (1985) and Victor Coté (2001) and her brother Ragnar Mann (2001). Survived by her nine children; Bob, Lynn, Bonnie, Brian, Sharon, Wendy, Tereasa, Michael and Shelley, and their spouses, Ellen will be missed also by her sister Edna and her family, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Born in Dewdney, BC, Ellen came to the Okanagan as a young woman. Much of her long active life was spent raising her large family and tending a fruit and vegetable farm outside of Oliver. Her home-made clothes and sweaters were top notch, her pies legendary. In her 40’s, Ellen discovered painting and it became her greatest passion. She was actively involved with the Oliver Art Club she was a locally recognized, award-winning artist. Ellen also found time for dancing (which she loved), league bowling, competitive carpet bowling, playing bridge with her friends, bus trips to the States, and to attend services at the Oliver United Church. Ellen loved to travel and some of her best days were spent fishing on a lake or digging in her garden.
Mom, Gram, Great-Gram was a woman with a great capacity for finding joy in life and whose heart was never too full to admit one more. She will be dearly missed.
A service will be officiated by Rev. Heather Burton at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, March 28th at the Oliver United Church.
Donations will be gratefully accepted by The Oliver Art Club and The Oliver United Church in Ellen’s name.
