There were so many wonderful people in our little town of Oliver who lifted Michael’s spirits with their visits, phone calls, and emails; who offered hugs, caring words, lovely cards and so many other kinds of support to him, to me, and to his family members; who provided food to sustain us and sent us lovely bouquets; who spent time comforting me and walking our dog when I did not have time, shoveling snow from our driveway, and translating messages to and from our Spanish speaking friends in Honduras and Guatemala; who gave a gift certificate for garden flowers and shrubs to be planted in Michael’s memory, published photos and articles about Michael’s life, and made donations to World Neighbours Canada in his honour and memory. These numerous and lovely acts of kindness and generosity lifted our spirits and helped ease the difficult time we journeyed through these past few months. I cannot possibly express in these few words my thanks and my gratitude, and how supported I have felt living in this community among so many caring friends.
