The Men’s League final was played this week between the winner of the league up to Christmas and the winner of the league after Christmas. This meant that Ted Rombough’s rink (minus Ted) played Karaoke George Hagel’s rink. It was no contest. Karaoke George showed some of his form of old and rocked the Tedless team in only 6 ends. This same Hagel team won the A event last weekend at the bonspiel in Midway as well. From left to right, KG Hagel (skip), Foster Doering, John Chapman and Wayne Ross.
Ladies were playing for the post-Christmas championship this week. Perennial champ Wanda Casorso ‘s rink was playing the relatively unknown, upstart rink of Deb Kotowich. If Casorso won, then the two teams would have been tied for the season, but in the fifth end, she missed her final shot and Kotowich stole 5 points. Although she pulled closer by winning the 6th and 7th ends, she could not overcome the big lead and Kotowich prevailed. Standing in front of their winning scoreboard, from left to right, Deb Kotowich (skip), Sylvia Lowe, Roberta Dodge and Tracey Johnson.
