On Monday April 1st, 2013 cash registers will be changed to reflect a new (old) way of charging you retail or consumption taxes.
No more harmonized HST tax of 12%
If we are to debate the issue lets first talk about the effects NOT on who brought it back or who was responsible etc. It’s a fact. It will change.
So what are the effects. The rules – previous to implementation of HST will now apply.
One example – at a restaurant you will pay GST (5%) but not PST (7%) – a reduction.
The burden of the change is on retailers with cash registers that need to be re-programmed. Other businesses will have to change the way they bill customers.
Will anyone of us really notice the difference?
What say you all.
