RCMP are saying very little as they investigate a sudden death now called a “homicide”.

55 year Doug Smith was found dead in his trailer on Richter Ave. near Webster St. on Wednesday evening by a friend. He had died of a gunshot wound to the head. No gun was found. Members of the media and neighbours revealed the identity of the the dead man but no official release has been made by police or coroner.

Smith, a former trucker was well known and liked in Hedley and the incident came as a big shock to the small community.

No progress has been reported by police.
