On February 18, 2013, the Osoyoos RCMP received a complaint of a motorized paraglider flying low and close to private residences. Canadian Aviation Regulations prohibit operating these types of aircraft below 1000 feet and less than 2000 feet horizontally from a build up area. Police spoke with the owner of the paraglider and with Transport Canada. This matter is being dealt with by Transport Canada Enforcement.
On February 20, 2013, Police were called about a pickup truck doing donuts in and around Desert Park Raceways. The Town of Osoyoos is installing underground utilities in this area which may have been damaged. Police made patrols for the vehicle but it was not located. On February 21, 2013, the truck was reported to be in the gravel pit south of Desert park raceways. Police located the suspect vehicle unoccupied and buried in sand. The truck was towed and a vehicle inspection notice was placed on the vehicle. Police spoke with the 18 year old driver of the truck and his father who is the registered owner about the erratic driving and requirement that the truck be inspected prior to it being allowed back on the road.
On February 21, 2013, the Osoyoos RCMP received a report of an elderly male smashing windows and kicking vehicles around Lombardy Lane. Police located and arrested the 70 year old man for mischief. The man showed signs of medical distress and was transported to South Okanagan General Hospital for assessment. This matter continues to be under investigation.
On February 21, 2013, an RCMP officer on patrol located a 58 year old Osoyoos man staggering on Main Street with an empty case of beer. The officer spoke to the man and determined he was sober and was a diabetic. BC Ambulance was called and found the male had low blood sugar levels which caused him to be dizzy and unsteady. The man did not wish to go to the hospital. After receiving supplemental sugars and recovering, Police drove the man home and left him in the care of his room-mate.
On February 24, 2013 RCMP responded to a call if a mischief to a vehicle on the 8300 block of Kingfisher Drive in Osoyoos. Overnight the sidewalls of tires of the truck located there had been punctured.
On February 24, 2013, Police responded to second report of mischief to vehicle on 92nd Avenue in Osoyoos. Sometime overnight the tires on a GMC Van had been punctured. Police canvassed the areas around these mischief’s but no witnesses were located.
