On Thursday, on the recommendation of Rural Director Allan Patton, the RDOS board passed a motion allowing a relaxation of flood plain requirements on land to the south of the present manufactured home park to allow for the final phase of the development. Owners get to own the land and bring on a home rather than renting a pad.
The relation of flood plain requirements allows for the same level of land as presently exists but more importantly will see the whole area ‘sewered’ with effluent going to the OIB plant on the south side of Highway 97.
The relaxation of requirement allows for a ‘save harmless’ clause stating that the RDOS is not liable if flooding did occur at some time in the future.
