Nellie was born in Shaunovan, Saskatchewan on Jan 3rd 1923 and lived in Scotsguard. At the age of 13 the family moved to Kamloops BC. Mom in her teens worked at Young’s Cafe and at the age of 17 she met her future husband who was stationed in the Air Force at Kamloops. They were married when mom was 19 and Dad was 20 on Aug 3rd 1942. Dad was 3 months short of his 21st birthday and so had to get written permission from his parents. They moved to Ontario in 1944 with baby Lynnda who died in January of 1945. In 1946 with 10 month old Sandra they moved from Northport to Singhampton near Collingwood, Ontario. Buying a 100 acre farm they took up farming with Dad working in construction and away from home except on weekends. Mom looked after the milking and day to day farm duties. We lived there for 13 years and never had hydro or running water until 6 months before we moved out west. Joan was born in 1949 in Collingwood and then in 1959 we moved to Okanagan Falls, BC. In 1960 Lloyd Jr. was born. Mom worked at one of the motels as a house keeper and then in 1969 they moved to Oliver. She worked at Sunnybank for 18 years doing laundry and housekeeping.
A very special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Sunnybank, many Mom considered her other family; Dr. Mark Hamilton and John and Daryn at Nunes-Pottinger. Following a private family gathering a private graveside committal will take place in the Oliver cemetery.
