Baldy is bringing back its’ winter carnival!!!
We have quite a few events planned. Hopefully we have come up with something for everyone. We have sent you this letter in the interest of having someone from your organization on the mountain to cover the event.
There is the “SlackCountry Cup” This is the coolest contest in the west. Two days, two cat rides and tons of fresh lines. Competitors are challenged to lay down the sweetest line focusing on flow, style and rhythm. The “open” division is a hand picked group of elite riders while another 60 spots are open for skiers, snowboarders men and women alike. February – Friday the 15th we will be kicking off the weekend with a party in the bar sponsored by Oliver’s own Firehall Brewery. There will be live music and a “king of the table” pool tournament. Entry for the pool tournament will be $5. Whoever holds the table the longest takes the pot!!
Saturday will be full of action, there will be a few tents in the base area offering demo gear for you to “try before you buy”
There will be a photographer showdown sponsored by GOPRO happening around the hill. The photographers involved have free reign on the hill to take pictures in an effort to build a slide show to be shown in the bar in the evening. We will all view the slides together and vote on a winner. The winner will take home a cash prize along with a sweet new camera from GOPRO.
First runs for the “Slackcountry Cup” will run from 11am-2:30pm
12:30pm-3pm
Hoodoo Tours from Penticton is hosting a Snowshoe race starting in the base area going to Gruhls’ pool and back. Entry will be $15. Snowshoes can be rented for $5 if you dont have your own. Lot’s of prizes will be given out to participants. Can you be the fastest on the snow? To register for this race email joshs@skibaldy.com
3:30pm-4:30pm
There will be a long distance frisbee throwing contest. $1 gets you a throw. furthest drive for the day takes home the pot. Bring your own disc or use one of ours.
6:30pm-12am
After a day of fun we will kick it up a notch with Big Surf Brewery out of kelowna. They will be pouring in the bar while we celebrate.
7pm-9pm
While the Big Surf party rolls on we will be having a hip/rail jam out back the lodge. $10 gets you into this jam. Cash and prizes will be awarded for landed tricks.
9:15pm-10pm
We will view and vote on the photographers slideshows. Winner takes home cash and a sweet new camera.
Sunday will be another full day,
10am-12pm
There will be toboggan races in the base area. $5 gets you as many runs as it takes for you to get the fastest time of the day. Winner takes the pot. Bring your own sled or borrow one of ours.
10am-3pm
Final runs “SlackCountry Cup”
11am-1pm
Baldy Alpine club will be hosting “toonie” races on their race course. $2 gets you a chance to race a Baldy racer. Win and you get your money back… Lose and it goes to the Alpine club.
1pm
Hotdog eating contest in the lodge. $10 gets you a seat at the table. Prizes and cash will be given to participants. Come hungry.
4pm-6pm
SlackCountry Cup awards banquet. Prizes and cash will be given out to winners.
