1. School Board has introduced a draft policy on Sexual Orientation and Gender identity – some consultation will be held but the policy should be adopted at the next meeting. Input has been received from school students and those who teach them.
2. School District #53 will introduce a SOSS students hairdressing course to be taught in Penticton, a leadership course in Keremeos and a Golf training class in Osoyoos. These are high school courses.
3. There will be a Learning Forum at the Osoyoos Elementary School on February 13th to explain the new BC Education Plan.
4. Field trip for Osoyoos high school students – to Cuba (Global Citizens Club) during spring break has been cancelled due to insufficient students wishing to go.
5. Oliver Elementary students, 40 in all, will go to Chemainus March 5 to 8th with teacher Lori Martine to attend a Dinner Theatre event and other cultural activities on Vancouver Island.
6. Teacher Helen Gallagher will lead a group of 9 students and elders to Spokane. The high school students from Keremeos will attend a Salish Language Conference
