Vernon orchardist – new President of BCFGA

jeet dukhaiJeet Dukhai relaces 2012 President Kirpal Boparai of Vernon. Dukhai served as Vice-President and stepped up when Boparai was ousted last year. Boparai resigned from the presidency last year when it was revealed he had broken his contract with Okanagan Tree Fruit Co-Op packing houses.

Dukhai defeated Kelowna orchardist Fred Steele by about 20 votes in a close race. The BCFGA was meeting in Penticton for its annual convention – the 124th on record.

A race for Vice-President ensued with Bhupinder Dhaliwal of Osoyoos defeating Denise MacDonald of Summerland.
