Decisions of the board:
Altea Holdings – final approval OCP amendment and zoning bylaw change from Industrial to commercial – property south of Oliver (former Rotheisler Equipment land)
Gary and Linda Venables – final approval OCP amendment and zoning bylaw change allowing for a seperate lot with a home and also an orchard property to be integrated with another farm.
Motion to thank Gary Dell for services to the Regional District as he has stepped down from the Oliver Parks and Recreation Society. The motion authorized the appointment of Dennis Magoffin to fill the position.
Both Director Hovanes and Director Patton brought to the board the opinion that service at the Oliver Post Office had slowed with limited sorting of local mail. It was pointed out that a letter sent from Oliver to Osoyoos or other communities in the valley would be sent first to Penticton – then Vancouver and returned before delivery.
The RDOS board decided to have staff make inquiries with Canada Post and invite Government MP Dan Albas to visit with the regional board and answer questions about any reduction in services and the long range plan for rural post offices.
