I received a wonderful Christmas present this year! I have been granted the privilege of being an Ambassador for the Rotary Club of Oliver, the Town of Oliver and Canada as this year’s Oliver Rotary Club Youth Exchange Student.
I am happy that the long process of paperwork and intense series of interviews finally paid off. I am excited about the opportunity to study abroad (Germany) for one year; however, recognize that now is when the real work begins.
I am thankful that Rotary does pay a substantial portion; however, students are still required to contribute towards their trip. As much as I have been saving up work, gift, etc. money, the $ amount needed is significant (minimum $7,400).
I am writing to ask whether you might consider a sponsorship towards this expense. I would be truly grateful for any support you might be able to provide. Also, I’d kindly like to ask whether you might pass along pertinent details to any others whom you feel may be interested in supporting my trip.
When someone recommended I reach out for help, my immediate thought was that this is exactly the type of thing I want to do when I am older and in a position to help out someone else. After being granted such a chance, I would be heartbroken to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity simply because of a lack of finances.
Grade 10 Teacher comments:
– “Prescott is a hard worker and will be successful in all his courses. Prescott is an inquisitive student who always works hard to figure out the connections between what he knows and is learning. I think he will enjoy the challenge of a new environment and work hard to succeed. Prescott is a model student who is strong academically. He’s constantly involved in the school and community setting a positive example for everyone. I think he will excel in the exchange program.” – Sabra McIntyre, Science & Chemistry –

You can make a significant difference in my future. Hoping you consider me worthy of the financial support needed to realize my dream, when I am older I will be devoted to “paying it forward”. Thank you so much for your consideration and I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Prescott Wick
