Oliver Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of Adult Health and Fitness programs during the winter months of 2013.
Our third annual “Lose It For Life” weight loss challenge is starting again this January 14, at the Oliver Parks & Recreation centre. Jorg Mardian, will be doing the nutritional aspect again this year, and participants are challenged to eat better, attend classes and lose lots of weight. Last year our winner lost 45 pounds in 12 weeks, while many lost 20-30 pounds and gained lifelong healthy habits.
The cost is $125 for the 12 week challenge which includes one 10 punch pass, entry into nutrition/weight room seminars, and lots of prizes. All participants will have their weight, body fat and waist measurements tracked, which gives lots of accountability. This challenge really works and if you want to be included in a non-judgmental environment that has real results, this is the challenge for you. If interested, please head down to the Oliver Parks & Recreation office to sign up. Hurry, we start on January 14. See you there.
GentleFit is also another class that runs throughout the year – it’s a slower-paced introductory fitness program for those not previously involved in fitness, those getting back into a routine or anyone looking to gently stimulate their metabolism and strengthen muscles. Increase your range of movement and flexibility required for everyday activities. Great for post-surgery, rehabilitation, arthritic conditions or just getting back into shape at your own pace. This class runs Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 9:00am-10:00am at Oliver Community Centre Hall ($6.00/drop in, $60.00 pass).
Strength and Stability’s class focuses on proper posture, form and alignment for improved functional strength using body weight, resistance, and core stability exercises. This class runs Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 6:00pm -7:00pm at Oliver Community Centre Hall ($5.50/drop in, $50.00 pass).
Power Hour is a total body fitness class! It will help tone and burn fat. Get your sweat on with the mix of cardio-kickboxing, bootcamp and interval training classes. This class runs Monday and Wednesday mornings, from 7:00am-8:00am at Oliver Community Centre Hall ($5.50/drop in, $50.00 pass).
We also have Yoga classes, Pickleball, Snowshoeing Tours, McIntyre Bluff Hike and more! For more information, go to www.oliverrecreation.ca
