Over the Christmas and New Year’s Holidays there were a high number of motor vehicle accidents in and around the Osoyoos area. The majority of the accidents involved very poor road conditions. Throughout the holidays Police made patrols for Impaired and unsafe Drivers.
On December 27th, 2012 Osoyoos RCMP received a report of a man laying on the ground at the Tim Horton’s in Osoyoos. Police attended and found a very intoxicated male who was only wearing one shoe. As the 65 year old man from Fort St. John was not able to care for himself and had no one to take care of him he was arrested and lodged in Oliver cells until being released without charges once sober.
On December 28th, 2012, Police received a report of a Break and Enter to the main building at Casa Del Mila Oro Resort on Lakeshore Drive in Osoyoos. The rear of the main building had 3 door handles pried open. The thieves forced their way into a locked storage room and stole numerous tools and a green STACKON gun safe which contained 3 handguns and 3 shotguns. On December 22nd, 2012, at approximately 1:00 am, Police responded to a report of an unresponsive man in a parked car on Hwy 3 on the Richter Pass. Police and BC Ambulance found an intoxicated man the driver’s seat of the car with the key in the ignition of the 1990 Plymouth Sundance car. The impaired driving investigation resulted in the 33 year old male from Keremeos receiving a 30 day Road Side Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded
On January 2nd, 2013, Police received a report that a black flat deck trailer had been stolen from the rear of the Osoyoos Credit Union where it had been chained up. The trailer had the BC license plate 50292B on it when it was stolen
On January 3rd, 2013, Osoyoos RCMP received a report that the lock to the loading dock at Balogh Electric had been cut overnight. In addition to the damaged lock a large amount of cable was stolen from the Balogh Electric storage yard over the holidays.
