Property owner Joe Kirs and son Mike watch fire as a metal roof falls into what remains of a ‘stick built’ home from the 30’s.
Kirs says the old house was used for storage and the metal roof was relatively new. No one lived in the structure which burnt to the ground in about about 90 minutes.
The house according to Kirs was owned at one time by Doug Eisenhut Sr. and used by teacher Don Irving when he first arrived in Oliver in the 50’s – it had a view of the valley below and was built on the crest of a hill.
