Betty Brown Interior Health – Healthy Communities – South Okanagan statistics for diabetes, obesity, asthma, anxiety and poverty – not good – some of the highest figures in BC. 58% increase in chronic conditions. – Diet, exercise and no smoking – part of the cure. Asked RDOS board for a pact to include all government agencies in a joint effort to solve this problem including policies for healthier living, improved transit and linear parks for walking.
Greg Norton – Starling Control Program reported that 78,000 starlings had been eliminated in 2011 with about a half million since the program began in 2003. North, Central and South regional districts all contribute to this program. Net gain: more edible fruit and less bird banger machines in use/less noise in urban settings.

Tinhorn (Miradora) Liquor License – application for Full Service Restaurant Licensing – sent to the APC for consultation. Director Patton says restaurants on farm land should only sell local product due to being zoned agriculture not commercial.
Venables Property – application for a lot line adjustment approved by RDOS Board despite opposition from Director Allan Patton. The adjustment would see farm land go to new owners Hester Creek Estate Winery and the Venable’s home made into a legal lot without farmland.
Tangible Capital Assets Reserves for Oliver Parks and Recreation – RDOS Board approved enactment of four bylaws to allow the parks society to save monies for the eventual replacement of pool, hall, arena and parks.
