A fellow I know sent me this picture which generates some questions:
What year was this? 1969-1970
Who built the house? Carleton and Buddy MacNaughton
Who took the picture? Pat Hampson
What kind of vehicle was he driving at that time of his life? Loomis Armoured Truck
A response from Pat Hampson:
Well you are getting some interesting responses so I will give you some additional information:
3 of us used to travel this Loomis route from Vancouver to Osoyoos, Penticton, and on up the valley. Two of us switched driving and guard duties while the person in charge (called the Custodian) of the money was seated in a separate compartment in case the truck was attacked. When I was the guard, I would have to get out of the truck, scan the immediate area then the Custodian would get out and make the delivery while I and my partner covered him making a delivery. We drove to Kelowna the first day and we stayed overnight at the old Capri Hotel. One of the crew was a friend of the Capozzi family and used to play cards with a member of the family. The next day we drove up to Salmon Arm and then back to Kamloops and through the Fraser Canyon to Vancouver. We saw derailments, landslides, white-outs, blizzards and just about everything that could happen in the Canyon and on the 401.
Kelowna is where I met Linda on vacation with a close friend in 1970. We went out for a burger that night and I left her a note telling her I would call when I got back to Vancouver. I called her for a date and I proposed to her Valentines Day 1971 and we were married June 5 1971. Trish was born in 1973 and I quit Loomis after the November robbery at the Royal Bank Broadway & Granville; I became a firefighter in West Van June 1973.
