Two matters sent to the Rural Area C – Area Planning Commission
1. Referral on BC Government plan to insert back service road onto designated parkland near Highway 97 and Vincor: The plan calls for an access to be built at Campsite Rd and Tucelnuit Drive to serve the new planned correctional facility. That new roadway would cut in half sensitive habitat in a nature preserve.
APC has recommend that any roadway be built off Vincor’s access road on Federal Government controlled (OIB) land on the eastern boundary of the provincial parkland which would not disturb the integrity of the park.
2. Referral on Town of Oliver’s requested tenure of land on northwest corner of cemetery for a scattering ground. For the intended purpose to happen the RDOS is being asked to rezone this land. The APC has given general approval to the plan with certain provisos including that the use of the land is to be restricted to its intended purpose only with no construction of roadways or utility corridors.
