Baldy opens Saturday with plenty of snow, and the Sugarlump Chair and Magic Carpet in operation.
The severe weather that brought us all the snow, and snapped trees, also involved icing and wind near the top of the Eagle Chair. The “com line” (communications and electrical) has been damaged. Crews are working through the mechanical and electrical issues, but at this time, there is no guarantee that the Eagle Chair will be ready to run on Saturday morning.
Outside help has been brought in, and today they are working up there in near zero visibility. Baldy usually does a “soft opening” with the Sugarlump Chair, and usually at this time we are waiting for more snow for the Eagle Chair.
This year – the hype is on the amazing snow, and the anticipation is for all that terrain accessed by the Eagle Chair.
Snow conditions will be excellent on the weekend, and we will keep you posted as the repairs progress on the Eagle Chair.
