We are slowly warming our way closer to winter and the Link Crew class at SOSS has been working on another activity to raise the student’s spirits. Candy-o-grams have been a tradition at SOSS for so long that no one knows when they actually started.
Mrs. Podmorrow, the Link Crew teacher, says that they have been doing this since she started working at the school. Candy-o-grams are a great way to appreciate friends.
The class is selling the candy-o-grams for $1 or a non-perishable food item and all of the proceeds are going to the Oliver Food Bank. Not only are they doing something to raise school spirit for the winter holidays but they are doing something amazing for the community as well. Since they are selling the candy-o-grams until next Thursday 20th, there is lots of time for the students at SOSS to donate to the food bank as well as show some appreciation for their friends.
This activity is fairly easy to prepare for. All the students in the class had to do was find the cards and copy them. After this deadline comes all of the work, but the work is worth the effort. They have to find all the students B block classes and attach a candy to the card to prepare for delivery. These candy-o-grams can be either anonymous or students can write their friends a little note. This is one tradition that will continue on and keep the school spirit going.
